Hey everyone, I just parked my 2021 Sonata Hybrid SEL and noticed it’s leaking some water underneath. Took a quick video to show it. Anyone know what this might be?
Probably just water from the AC evaporator. It’s pretty normal.

So this is common? I’m planning to take it to the dealer to see if it’s covered by the warranty. Is it normal for that pipe to come loose? And should I avoid driving if I keep the AC off for now? Thanks so much.
@Terryanne
It’s likely the AC condenser drain line.

You mean condensate*… The condenser itself is up near the front of the car.

And where do you think the drain line connects to?
@Terryanne
It’s supposed to do that. Any car will drip water like that if the AC’s been running or just turned off.

Seriously, don’t waste time at the dealer. They’ll just find ways to get you to spend more. Every AC drips water.
This just means your AC is working well.

Does that mean more water means it’s removing more moisture?

Yes, it’s condensation from the AC. Nothing to worry about.

Yep, dip your fingers in it, smell it (but don’t taste). It’s likely just water from condensation. Here’s a tip: turn off the AC about 5 minutes before you get home and keep the fan blowing. This helps dry out any remaining moisture and can reduce musty smells from the AC over time.
@Charlotte
Good advice

Yep, AC’s job is partly to remove humidity. This is the extra moisture. If you’ve been breathing heavily or have high humidity, you’ll see more of this.
It’s totally normal, happens with any car AC.

So no reason to get it checked out?

Exactly. If you look at empty driveways, you’ll often see water marks from where cars dripped over time.
Did you have the AC on?

Yes, it was running before I turned the car off.
Like everyone’s saying, it’s just AC condensation. If you ran the AC at a low temp for a while, it’s normal to see more water.
