I’ve noticed that many of the settings in my 2021 Sonata Hybrid Limited, like the instrument cluster layout and HVAC settings, reset to default if I don’t drive the car at least once every two days. If the car sits for more than two months, the 12v battery dies, and I have to jump it using the internal button.
Does anyone know what could be causing the car to reset settings if it’s not driven regularly? Any insights would be appreciated.
It sounds like your Sonata Hybrid’s electrical system is going into a deep sleep mode to conserve battery power when it sits idle for too long.
This is normal, but it seems a bit aggressive in your case.
To prevent the battery drain, you could try disconnecting the battery when you know you won’t be driving the car for an extended period.
This will prevent the battery from completely draining.
Regarding the settings resetting, it might be a software glitch. You could try updating the infotainment system if there’s an update available.
If that doesn’t work, a visit to the dealership might be necessary to investigate further.
In the meantime, you might want to consider getting a battery tender to keep the battery charged while the car is in storage.
This will help prevent the battery from dying completely and save you the hassle of jumping it.
It sounds like a false power draw. Anything added after the fact, like a radio or dashcam?
