I ought a 2023 Hyundai Sonata juz the other day, and I’m really impressed with the infotainment system! I was wondering if there’s a way to cast my phone to the infotainment display.
I primarily use an Android device, and I’ve heard about features like Android Auto, but I’m not sure if that allows me to cast my entire screen or just specific apps. Does anyone know if I can project my phone screen onto the display? If so, could you please provide some tips or steps to do it?
Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on all models, as far as I remember. To use them, you need to connect your phone with a USB cable unless your car has wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. If you only want to make calls and play music, you can also connect via Bluetooth.
No, you can’t mirror videos, text messages, or anything like that. It would be too distracting while driving. You can only use CarPlay for certain features.
There used to be a hack for Android Auto that let you load an app that was basically a browser on the infotainment screen. They fixed that exploit a few months ago, and I haven’t seen a new version since then. I used it to watch YouTube while having lunch in my car, lol!
Yes, you’ll need to buy one of those “AI Box” dongles. I don’t really get why they call it an “AI box,” but it’s basically a mini Android device that plugs in and lets you use Android Auto to display whatever you want. You can download YouTube and Netflix, and it also has features for screen mirroring or using Apple AirPlay.
