I went to my local Autozone today to have a code read and get the freeze frame data. I got a code P0118, Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input. I called the dealer but they are out of stock on the sensor. Would it be a problem to use an after market sensor? I’m just concerned about the quality and accuracy of the sensor. From what I have found out Standard Motor Products and Beck/Arnley makes them.

It is usually okay to use an aftermarket sensor, such as those made by Beck/Arnley or Standard Motor Products. These well-known brands frequently provide parts that satisfy OEM requirements. For optimal effects, just make sure it is compatible with the make and model of your car.

It is probably advisable to use the OE part as an OBD-II input to PCM. The part will arrive at the region part depot no later than two days.
Additionally, give your nearby dealer a call if you know the part number.

Had a similar issue a few weeks ago and I also could not find the exact original sensor.
I replaced it with an aftermarket one and it is working just fine. Haven’t experienced any issues so far.
