Dealer won’t budge on price for 2025 hybrid Limited

Went in for a 2025 Limited Hybrid AWD, and the dealer offered $53k out the door, basically MSRP plus tax. They said upfront they don’t negotiate on 2025 Santa Fes. Is this normal? We’re in the Bay Area, CA.

We’re specifically looking for the Rockwood Green color, which limits us to this dealer. I know it’s on us for being picky about the color, but if I’m spending a lot of money, I want the car I want. We would also consider the 2024 model, but none are available within 200 miles that meet our preferences, and I doubt more will come in with the 2025s out now.

They don’t really need to negotiate on these. The right combo of trim, color, and drive can be hard to find. If they have what’s in demand, like yours, they probably won’t lower the price.

Exactly. I got $1,500 off MSRP and took the deal because two other people were at the dealership that day looking at the same hybrid. After I bought it, I checked and there was nothing left within 100 miles, even a month later.

If you can wait, do it, but if you’re in a rush, you might have to pay up.

When I was buying earlier this year, my sales guy could’ve charged me anything. I wanted a Limited Hybrid AWD, and they had a brass/black one coming in a month. I called twice a week to remind him I wanted it. He didn’t even call me when it arrived, and it sold right away. No other hybrids with AWD were coming to LA for at least a month.

I called every dealer in LA, and they were barely getting hybrids, let alone AWDs. Plus, I was picky about color (no white, black, silver, or light gray interiors), which made it nearly impossible to find one.

When I found out the car sold, I contacted a dealer out of state, and they had one for me within four hours. I flew out and drove it back home, and with airfare and gas, I basically broke even on MSRP.

It’s strange people don’t want hybrids. They think there’s a big power difference, but there isn’t. Unless they want an XRT, I don’t get why they’re going for the gas Calligraphy.

Glad you had a good drive back! I made a bunch of calls to find that exact color for you. The Santa Fe is a great SUV, and the Calligraphy AWD is almost a luxury car for just under $50k. Ours has been perfect since we got it in March, no transmission issues like I’ve seen on social media.

Same here a couple of weeks ago. Only three black-on-black Calligraphy Hybrids within 100 miles. I got $1,950 off MSRP. Could’ve gotten more elsewhere, but I’d already committed. I bet positive reviews will drive up demand even more.

I’m curious where the negotiations ended up on the 2024 Hybrids since it’s almost the same car.

Have you checked what’s coming in for delivery?

Yeah, we’ve checked with another dealer too. They gave us the same answer, and the other vehicles we liked sold already. Nothing else is coming in nearby.

Have you tried looking in SoCal? Sometimes they have inventory for Bay Area buyers.

Just be careful of different lemon laws if you buy out of state.

53k doesn’t sound like MSRP for a Limited, not even the Calligraphy is that much. Maybe check out-of-state if you’re having trouble locally. I bought mine from MS, and I’m in FL.

Thanks! It’s $47,600 MSRP plus taxes and fees for $53k out the door.

That seems like a lot of extra fees. I’m in FL too, and we have a ton of fees here, but that’s still high.

Ripoff.

Depending on color and options, $50k could be MSRP, and taxes could push it to $53k.

Glad you’re enjoying your car! Florida fees are pretty crazy. I’ve seen some dealers charge up to $1,950 in fees on top of sales tax. The Limited Hybrid with Pecan Brown is tough to find, so it’s hard to get them to negotiate.

Bought the 2024 XRT, and yeah, they didn’t move on the price either.

Prices are all over the place right now. Once reviews come out, the price might go up even more.

Which dealership did you go to? I found that some won’t budge, but others will.

There aren’t any 2024s left, so it’s no surprise they won’t negotiate on the 2025s. MSRP is already fair, which is why you’re there.

Try another dealership then.
