Does this sound like normal engine noise to yall?

Sonata sounded exactly like that before it threw a rod. Have fun!!!:sweat_smile::sweat_smile:

God, I hope this isn’t the case. I bought it 4 months ago, barely put 4k miles on it since buying it, and still owe about $15k on it. You would think the dealership would address any major issues with the vehicle before selling it. If that is the case, then hopefully the dealership does the right thing and repairs it on goodwill; I have babied this car since buying it.

Engine recall on all GDI motors from 2011-2017.

It’s a 2019 Elantra; I’m not sure if it would qualify for any recalls. Since I bought it from the dealership, you would think any work it needed would have been done to it. This whole experience has ruined me from buying another Hyundai in my life. I should have gone with Toyota or Honda.

@Jason
If it’s a GDI then yes. Otherwise call the dealership or Google your VIN # for active recalls.

Oh, I see, upon a quick Google inspection it is a Nu MPI. It’s the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder one. This is new news for me; hopefully, it bears fruit!

Edit: It seems there is a recall for my engine for improperly heat treated piston rings, but I can’t see if it has been addressed already or not. I am assuming it hasn’t been since there is no record of my car getting a new engine. This is good news; hopefully, I can get more info from the dealership!
