Guyz…Does anyone know what this is?
That’s where you put your key fob if the battery dies. It reads the chip in the fob so you can start the car.

Wow, thanks so much! I wish I had known this earlier when my fob battery died and I was searching everywhere for batteries.

Fun fact: most newer cars, including recent Hyundai and Kia models, let you start the car by pressing the start button with the end of the fob if the battery dies. Hyundai switched to this system around 2015, so your car was one of the last to use the slot.

Yes, that’s right. It’s an old-school feature for Kia and Hyundai.

It’s for your key fob so you can still start your car if the fob is dead.
