How to File an Inquiry with Hyundai USA Over a Dealer Repair?

Long story short, I took my 2019 Tucson to the dealer (my 5-year warranty expired in February) because the dashboard lights for the front and rear collision system were on. They diagnosed it as faulty rear wheel sensors—both at the same time.

They said it would take 4 hours to replace them at $270 per hour, totaling about $1,500 for the two-speed sensor replacements. The sensors themselves are priced at $98 each at the dealer (https://hyundai.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/hyundai-abs-wheel-speed-sensor-58980c1100).

They mentioned there’s a specified time for repairs, and I’d like to check this with Hyundai. Does anyone know where or how to create a claim with Hyundai USA, or what the best course of action might be?

Thanks!

That sounds frustrating. You might want to check if Hyundai USA has a customer service line or an online form for warranty issues. Sometimes they can offer help or direct you to a better solution. Getting a second opinion from a trusted mechanic can also help get a better price.

The dealership’s repair quote for your Tucson sensors seems excessive. Call Hyundai USA to confirm the standard repair time.

buying the sensors online and having an independent mechanic install them. Negotiate with the dealership for a better price.
