Hyundai Sonata Engine Recall and Warranty Frustration

Hey People! :red_car:

I bought my 2013 Hyundai Sonata with 50,000 miles, did all scheduled maintenance, and kept records. At 89,000 miles, the engine unexpectedly failed. Advantage Hyundai in Hicksville refused warranty coverage, citing gaps in maintenance records despite my efforts to provide more. This model has a known engine recall, yet Hyundai Assurance seems unhelpful. Disappointed in customer loyalty. :triumph:

Has anyone faced similar issues or have advice on next steps? Thanks!

You’re frustrated with Hyundai after your 2013 Sonata’s engine unexpectedly failed at 89,000 miles despite diligent maintenance. Hyundai has denied warranty coverage due to alleged gaps in maintenance records, even though you’ve provided evidence. This is particularly disappointing given the known engine recall issue. You’re seeking advice on how to proceed, as Hyundai Assurance hasn’t been helpful.

Engine failures are a common issue with that model year, especially those built in Alabama.

While Hyundai has acknowledged the problem and issued recalls, their customer service can be a real pain.

Don’t give up on those maintenance records – keep pushing for coverage under the recall. If that fails, consider consulting with a lemon law attorney.

You deserve better from Hyundai, especially after being a loyal customer.
