It’s not terrible in a technical sense, but if you’re getting a Hyundai without going for a hybrid, EV, or N series, it’s like going to a pizza place and only getting breadsticks. You can call it pizza, but it’s not.

I’m including the N-Line too. Hyundai is good at making upgraded economy cars but not so much basic ones. They can’t seem to get a reliable sedan right, but throw in hybrid motors or sport upgrades, and they’re suddenly really good.

It depends on the model. The newer Elantras and the Kona, especially with the 2.0 and the 6-speed auto, have been excellent.
