what do you think is the reason? personally I see they have a good price/quality/guarantee/design balance

They’ve had a few engine failures and some lawsuits that hurt their reputation. They redesigned their engines, hired some European engineers, and started offering more features for a better price. I wasn’t a Hyundai fan, but now I’m picking up my Tucson on Monday. Hope I’m right about this change .
@Christine
We had a 2017 1.6T. The engine was fine but the DCT was worse than my Nissan’s CVT, in terms of driving lol

I believe it was the previous generation 2.4 that was problematic.
@Christine
The 2.0, 2.4 etc are all problematic. The 2.4 had a manufacturing defect on Hyundai/Kia’s part. Some others had issues too, but they were used by Mitsubishi and Chrysler/Dodge and didn’t have the same problems.
@Jony
Past tense. They’re using different engine models now.

Hi, when did Hyundai start using the better engines?

It depends on the car. The Theta II engine was the problem. The 2.4 L was particularly bad. But they use the Theta III now, as far as I know.
@Christine
Thanks for the info .

No issues. Had to get new tires. They were dry rotted. I traded in an '19 Sonata for it.

Some people don’t even know how to use it and deny their car even has features like that. Enjoy them! I would use them on every road if I had them.
Their good cars, keep up with the oil changes and regular maintenance, you’ll be good to go

I will, I bought the maintenance package, every 3,750 miles they will do everything the books say.
@Dylan
That’s good. I do the same on my 2017 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L, it’s at 199,200 miles now
