No power when pressing accelerator

I have a 2011 Hyundai Elantra with an automatic transmission, and I’m experiencing some issues. When I start the car, both the malfunction indicator lamp and oil pressure warning light come on, but the oil pressure light turns off, leaving just the malfunction lamp on.

When I shift into drive, the car moves, but it’s very slow and lacks power. The brakes stop working properly, although reversing works fine. I’ve also noticed a slight burning smell.

I checked the transmission fluid, and here’s what it looks like.

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Any idea what could be causing it?

Could be a plugged catalytic converter. You need to get the engine codes read and go from there.

A plugged cat won’t always throw a code.

Which is why I said to get the codes read and go from there. Anything else is just speculation.

@Michael
And if it hasn’t set codes? Then what?

He clearly states the engine light is on. Hence why I said to get the codes read…

I honestly read the title that’s it. My bad.

Are we looking at transmission fluid or oil?

Someone is looking at it today, are they expensive to buy?

Your high-pressure fuel pump could be leaking, which would leak into the crankcase. Does your oil smell like fuel? If so, the HPFP has failed and could be causing your lack of power. Also, is this a GDI engine? If not, then disregard the above text.

@carhero
Not GDI.

Looks like oil dilution. Usually happens when DPF clogs and fuel dilutes the engine oil. This causes low power. But this issue is mostly related to diesel engines. Is your car diesel?

Is this a major problem? My car is gasoline.

@Victor0
This might turn into a major problem if not taken care of. Too much fluid in the engine is not good.

Another comment mentioned the catalytic converter which is basically the same thing on gasoline engines. I think it might be clogged. You better have it checked and get it cleaned.

And if you get it cleaned, remember that you need to put some revs (4-5k) constantly for 20 minutes or so to prevent clogging in the future.

Assuming this is in the US, we do not have diesels here, not allowed.

Oil burning issue - which also ruins the cat.
