I have a 2018 Hyundai Accent, and I recently had a lot of work done due to an oil leak on July 8th. Today, while driving, my oil light came on, and when I checked, it was completely dry. I took it back to the place where the work was done, and they told me that Hyundais are known for burning a lot of oil.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, how often do you check your oil? The mechanic suggested checking it once a month or every two weeks, but that seems a bit excessive to me. I drive about 45 minutes to and from work, five days a week. I’m 900 miles away from my next oil change, and the mechanic said I could wait until then since he topped it off today. I was planning to get an oil change today if he hadn’t added the oil.
Hey, I’ve heard some Hyundai owners mention oil consumption issues. Checking your oil regularly is a good idea, especially if the mechanic recommended it. Once a month or every two weeks doesn’t hurt, especially if you’re noticing oil loss. It’s better to stay on top of it and avoid potential engine damage.
2018 Hyundai Sonata that I own. I began burning oil at about 95,000 miles. I underwent three assessments of my oil consumption. The first said that I wasn’t burning oil too much. watched it, and the issue continued to worsen. I gave it another go, and it didn’t pass. one quart burned every 600 miles. After having an engineer examine it, they made the decision to “clean” my engine. Once more, I failed the oil usage test. When they called to say they would replace the engine, it had 104,000 miles on it. Not at all, well, not without new belts, of course. It pays to persevere.
It’s concerning that your oil light came on so soon after the repairs. While some Hyundai models do consume more oil than others, it’s still unusual for it to go completely dry so quickly.
It’s a good idea to check your oil level more frequently, especially if you’ve noticed excessive oil consumption.
Consider checking it every week or two, especially if you’re driving long distances.
If you continue to have oil loss issues, consult with a mechanic for further diagnosis and potential repairs.
