Results of my Ioniq 6 Lemon Law lawsuit

Sell it to Hyundai, then use the federal EV credit to get a Tesla!

Take the money from Hyundai and be done with it. If it’s this much of a headache now, it’ll likely continue.

Update: Thank you all for your comments! After much consideration, I decided to keep my car and take the $12,000 cash. I asked my lawyer if I could get more, and he said no. Hyundai is offering me the best settlement they can.

That’s crazy! I’m in the same situation, still waiting on lemon law results, but I have the same car, just a limited.

Did your car have the same issues? Like wouldn’t start or respond?

@C.cole4
Yeah, I had to get it jump started and towed to the dealership about five times. I started the lemon law process months ago. How long did it take to hear back with the results?

I’d take the $12k and trade the vehicle for a better one. Unless they say it has to be titled as salvaged, I’d go for the buyback and take the loss.

My lemon law lawyer assured me my car won’t be classified as a lemon. My Carfax may show electrical inspections, but the title and VIN will remain clean.

@C.cole4
I’d look for a hybrid. All-electric is still new, and manufacturers are rushing to compete with Tesla without ensuring quality. My friend has a Toyota hybrid and gets around 500-600 miles a tank since it only uses gas on longer drives.

Did you hire a lemon law lawyer for this? I wouldn’t want to keep the car knowing it would be harder to sell, and I’d expect to get a better return or refund.

I hired a lemon law lawyer. Their fees are covered by Hyundai. The car might be hard to sell, but no one will know it’s a lemon or had a lawsuit filed. The repair reports just say electrical work was done.

@C.cole4
Hmm… I might take the money and sell the car then. A dealer could buy it from you, right?

Correct.

Selling it back to Hyundai for $30k means you’d get $21k since you owe $9k. But if this is a lemon law situation, shouldn’t they take the car back and refund all your money?
