RPM needle hits 0 while driving... what's going on?

Hey everyone! So, I’ve been having this weird issue with my car lately. The RPM needle drops to 0 while I’m driving, and then the traction control light turns on. Plus, the car shakes a lot when I’m just idling. I tried restarting the car when I got home, but no luck. Anyone else had this happen? What should I do? :thinking:

Oh man, that sounds rough! I’ve had a similar issue before. It might be a problem with your idle air control valve. Have you checked that?

I haven’t looked at that yet… could it really be the issue? What did you do to fix yours?

@Brielle2
Yeah, I cleaned mine out and it helped a ton. Just make sure to disconnect the battery first! :blush:

I had the same problem a few months ago! It turned out to be a loose connection in the wiring. Maybe check those too?

Good call! I’ll definitely check the wiring. Thanks for the tip! :wrench:

Ugh, that’s frustrating! Could also be something with the fuel system. If it’s not the idle control, I’d get that checked out.

Yeah, I’m starting to worry it might be something bigger… hopefully, it’s just a quick fix! :crossed_fingers:

Before you start fixing things, I’d recommend getting a diagnostic test. It might save you a lot of time and headaches!

Totally makes sense! I’ll see if I can get that done. Appreciate the advice! :raised_hands:

Oh man, that sounds like a nightmare! Just remember to stay calm… cars can be tricky sometimes. Keep us updated!
