So I got a brand new 24’ Tuscon PHEV Limited about 2 months ago. 2 days into the lease all the smart sensors like cruise control, lane keep blind spot, etc. stop working.
I take it to the dealership to get it fixed, after 3 days they call me back letting me know it’s under warranty and they’ll give me a loaner.
After about 2 weeks I call for an update and they tell me it was a wiring problem and they fixed it, but in the process they broke a trim piece and that’s back ordered and might take up to a month. Frustratingly I say ok, and hope it takes quicker. Sure enough about a week later they tell me it’s ready for pickup. I go in, sign the paperwork, and then go to take my new car but I start to notice all these scratches and dents around the door jams, speaker grills, and leather dashboard, (see the pictures) and the brand new white leather seats are now brown, rubbed out, and barely holding their original shape.
So I pointed it out to the tech. He told me to leave the car, take the loaner back for now, and he’ll take care of it and let me know when it’s ready.
At this point it’s probably almost 2 months and I’ve been paying monthly for my lease while driving their base model Kona (the loaner, which I’m grateful I was even able to get). When I got the lease I specifically paid extra for the plug-in hybrid so I can charge it because I have solar panels and I’ll be saving the difference by not paying for gas. But now, I’m just paying the price of a higher-end car, driving a base Kona, and still paying for gas.
Is there anything I could do to get back that money I’m paying for the lease? What about lemon law?
