2005 Sonata GLS… no foot on the brake but car won’t move… what could be wrong?

When I slow down, the rpm drops to 500, and the car just stops even when my foot isn’t on the brake. It also feels like there’s a struggle when I try to accelerate… like it’s holding back. This started a couple of days ago and seems to be getting worse.

Sounds like your transmission might be failing.

That’s really expensive… pretty disappointing.

Could be a sensor acting up on either the engine or transmission.

66.6 miles? Maybe the car’s possessed! Time for an oil change and maybe an exorcism too.

Know any good mechanic-priests?

I don’t, but there’s always a wizard around somewhere!

Your brake caliper might be sticking.

Could be the foot brake or even an electronic brake staying on, even if it’s not showing on the dash.

When it’s in park or neutral, does the engine rev normally if you hit the gas, or is it still sluggish?

It revs fine in both park and neutral.

Then it might really be the transmission. If it’s not something simple like being low on transmission fluid, it might end up costing more than the car is worth.

@ElantraLOVEr2
I got a P0703 transmission code from the scan.

I’ll tell you what’s wrong! It needs some gas .

Probably not on a 2005 model, but do you have an auto hold button?

Sounds like a transmission issue to me too… hey, on the bright side, now you can make that ‘I blew a trans’ joke.
