2015 hyundai sonata oil capacity

Hi there, pals I replaced the oil and filter original equipment manufacturer filter and noticed that even with five quarts added, it is still slightly below the full mark.
Does anyone else experience match this?

It’s fairly common to notice a low oil level after an oil change, even if you added the exact amount specified in your car’s manual. Here are a couple of reasons why:

Reasons for Low Oil Reading:

Trapped Oil:

  • Residual Oil: Some oil remains trapped in the engine, such as in the filter housing, around the valves, or clinging to engine components, even after draining.

Filling Process:

  • Oil Distribution: It takes time for all the new oil to filter down from the reservoir to the crankcase. Checking the dipstick immediately after adding oil might not show a full level yet.

Steps to Address Low Oil Reading:

Run the Engine and Recheck:

  • Circulate and Settle: Start your car and let the engine idle for a few minutes to allow the oil to circulate and settle. Then, turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, and recheck the oil level on the dipstick. It should be closer to the full mark now.

Avoid Overfilling:

  • Caution with Additional Oil: Avoid adding too much oil, as exceeding the recommended level can harm your engine. If the level is still slightly below the full mark after running the engine and waiting, it’s usually fine.

The oil capacity of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata is approximately 5.1 quarts with the filter included.
If you have added five quarts and it’s still slightly below the full mark, it is possible that the dipstick reading might not be perfectly accurate. You could try adding a little more oil to reach the full level, but be cautious not to overfill. If you are concerned, consider checking with a professional mechanic for expert guidance.
