2016 Tucson Losing Oil—Concerned About Long-Term Fix

I was losing all my oil between oil changes, but my 2016 Tucson never showed any warnings for low oil. Shouldn’t there be one?

I usually go to a local shop for maintenance, and they mentioned that this is a known issue and suggested taking it to the dealership if it continued. The dealership acknowledged the problem and performed an “engine cleaning,” which seems to have resolved the issue. I’m supposed to return after 1,000 miles, and I’ve driven about 500 miles so far. I checked the oil today, and it’s still full. Before the engine cleaning, I would have lost about 2/3 of the oil by this point.

Is there anything I’m missing or should be doing now? I’m worried that this might not be a permanent fix and that the issue could resurface after the warranty expires in a year.

Thanks for any advice!

Losing oil without any warnings is definitely concerning. It’s good that the dealership addressed the issue with an engine cleaning, and it seems to have worked so far.

Keep a close eye on the oil level between now and your next dealership visit. If you notice any changes, get it checked out immediately.

While it’s impossible to guarantee a permanent fix, staying on top of the situation is crucial.

Consider switching to a synthetic oil, as it can help with oil consumption in some cases.

Also, discuss potential long-term solutions with the dealership, such as replacing specific engine parts if the problem persists.
