The check engine light started blinking on my way home from work. The next time I drove, I couldn’t accelerate above 2 rpm. I used my Innova and got a P1326 code, which seems related to the knock sensor rather than a glow fuse.
“In some cases, the engine needs to be rebuilt…”
Can anyone suggest what I should do next without going to the dealership? I need to fix this today.
P1326 is linked to the knock sensor update. Depending on your engine, you might be covered under a warranty extension from a class action settlement. Best to call a dealership and give them your VIN to check if it’s covered. If it is, they’ll perform a bearing clearance test, and if that fails, you could get a new engine at Hyundai’s expense.
My 2014 Sonata had the same issue around the same mileage. It came up as a diesel truck code, and they told me it was a knock sensor, which they fixed under warranty.

Your car is in limp home mode, which is why it’s staying below 2k rpm. The dealership will likely start with a knock sensor update. They might also do a bearing clearance check.
That’s the phase I’m currently in, hoping it doesn’t come back.
If you can’t prove you did oil changes every 6k km, you might have to pay for an engine teardown inspection to see if the failures relate to not following the maintenance schedule.

I have a Sonata with 134k miles and I’m the second owner. The engine failed three weeks ago, and they told me I’m getting a free engine with a rental. I didn’t have to provide anything. I think my Carfax or inspection showed no neglect.

That definitely sounds like limp mode. Your engine might be failing. Get to a dealer as soon as you can!

Check the engine knock sensor. It’s a known recall for this model. I’ve had this issue twice.

2 rpm? That’s wild… it should idle higher than that.
