2024 Tucson Ultimate Hybrid Fuel Economy

Thoughts on this fuel economy. Mix of city and highway. A good portion of highway was 120kmh. I don’t feel this is too bad.

For me personally, I went from Kitchener → Montreal (~650km) and it said 6.3L/100km. But I was going only 110kmh. 23’ Tucson Hybrid Ultimate as well.

No doubt overall I think the fuel economy can be really great given the vehicle’s size.

For a bigger vehicle I think it’s good. My old 2020 gas Sonata was getting 30-33mpg freeway, but in the city it would drop to low 20s. My hybrid SEL Convenience is getting 30s mpg. If I drive conservatively I can get 40mpg.

Kinda meh for a hybrid TBH.

Ya, the RAV4 would smoke this with over 40mpg.

So would the CRV hybrid.

That’s a bit better than my long-term average in my 2023 Ultimate but I travel a lot in winter and on Northern roads.

I’m at 6.9 hybrid 30k Kms :hushed:.

I just drove from Calgary to Kamloops today. I got 650km in just under 7 hours, 6.9L/100km on one tank with 45km left. Have a 2024 hybrid luxury .

I need to slow down lol.

@Michael
I mean I was going 120+ for some portions of it for sure so it could be lots of different factors!

Mine has 50k km and I have an average consumption of 6.8l. I live on a hill, it could be even less.

The faster you drive the worse it will get. I have a 2022 ultimate hybrid and get around 6.6 in the city but with highway I get a little over 7. When it gets colder it will go up a bit too, more in the 8 l/100km.

Stick to the speed limit. Speeding kills the fuel efficiency.

I consistently run on EV when I’m at a higher speed as well as when I’m at the speed limit. Yesterday I was getting 35/36mpg going at least 10 over in country driving.

It’s more about the quick revving and constantly variable speeds that kills it. If it were just an ICE vehicle, then I’d agree. But not with the Hybrid.

You could get 40+ mpg if you had driven 10 under. Try the same road with lower speed and see how your mileage improves.

Lol ok .

Interesting when I’m on the highway I’m never on EV, but I am going about 20km/h over the speed limit usually lol.

EV would go off above 50-60 km/h or if you accelerate rapidly, so EV on non plug-ins is really for city/traffic driving. Having AC on uses up quite a bit of battery too, I’ve seen less EV when on winter tires/smaller rim size/worse fuel economy.
