2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy

I am very interested in a local '25 Santa Fe Calligraphy. Fully loaded. The MSRP is around $51,000, which seems ridiculous to me. It isn’t the hybrid either. How much did you all pay for your 2025 Calligraphy non-hybrid? What should I be looking to buy this one for?

I picked up the '25 hybrid AWD Limited in Earthy Brass for $4,300 off MSRP. From what I saw on the Calligraphy and the available color options at the lot, I wasn’t really interested in spending the extra. It has more than enough features for me.

My company has a circle discount with Hyundai that helped with the discount.

I paid less than that, $48,000. But that’s because my dealership was running a $500 college promotion, a $1,000 incentive, and a $1,500 something else I can’t remember. The going rate for them seems to be $50,000-$51,000. It all depends on your area. I don’t see many on the roads where I live, and the dealerships have a bunch of 2024 and 2025 models on lots.

Even if you pay $51,000, it’s not too bad. Argue down the paint and fabric treatment they’ll add for $2,600, extend the warranty, and get gap insurance. I ended up getting the treatment for free because I paid for the other two items.

Sorry, what’s gap insurance?

When you get into an accident, the value of the car and the amount of money you owe on it can be very different. If you plot this on a graph, both lines start horizontal at the top. One of these lines, the value of the vehicle, descends faster than the price you have left to pay on the car.

In the event of an accident, you would be out of pocket for the difference between the value of the vehicle and what you owe. Insurance will only cover the value of the vehicle. Gap closes the…eh…gap, between the value and what you owe. But only in the event of an accident. If you want to sell the vehicle, it’s a different story.

It’s great if you’re not going to put much down on a finance loan. But if you put a decent amount down, maybe 20-30%, you won’t need gap.

@Lenox
Eh, even then, I didn’t want to be out my down payment. I put 35% down and still added gap insurance. Otherwise, that would be lost cash.

I feel like I’m missing something because doesn’t putting 35% down negate any benefit from gap insurance?

@howdyrobert
Not grim that I understand. Gap filled the void between what the car is worth and how much you paid. Even paying more up front, I don’t want to be out of that down payment if something happens. Gap covers the down payment as well.

@TheOneHyundaiGuru
Are you sure? My understanding of gap insurance is that it only covers the difference between the depreciated value and what you owe on the loan.

There’s a small clause in the state I live in where gap covers the value of the car and what you paid/financed in total for the first year. Otherwise, yes, it’s only what you financed and what the value of the car is.

@Lenox
Thank you for sharing.

Okay, gotcha. I am hoping to get it down to $45,000.

I’m sure you could find a new '24 for that price! I’d assume dealers are eager to clear '24s for '25s.

Is there a difference between the '24 and '25?

@Smith
Nothing of note.

@Smith
Not that I’m aware. The only thing I could think is they already have the newest system update completed, as ours ('24s) had to run the system update. But I’d assume dealerships have completed that while cars are on the lot.

I’ve seen some Calligraphies with a different style black rim. However, I’m unsure if that’s indicative of '25s or just a general option that’s always been available.

Limited, not Calligraphy for me, but I got my 2025 down to 7.5% below MSRP, so that could be a reasonable target for you.

Our '24 Calligraphy MSRP was $56,600. We paid sticker price but they gave us retail price for our '22 Bronco Sport. Fair deal in my opinion.

New '23 Santa Fe Calligraphy FWD $46,000 out the door.

$3,000 below MSRP in the USA with no dealer add-ons and a reasonable doc fee is achievable. I got $2,000 off on a hybrid.
