$3000 to replace Turbocharger for Hyundai 2020 Eco

Hi,
I took my 2020 Hyundai Elantra Eco to the dealership, and after doing diagnostics, they said the turbocharger needs to be fully replaced. They’re asking for $3000. Is it worth it or not?

It’s only ~4 years old… this should be covered under warranty, isn’t it?

Sorry I meant 2020 Hyundai Elantra Eco. I bought it from a 3rd party dealer and got scammed. I’m so mad at myself and don’t know what to do.

Gotcha… So is it worth it? Probably… I mean what’s it worth without putting it in?

Try to go to a local mechanic. If it is 3k in the dealership, it will probably be 50% in a local shop.

Some shops are willing to rebuild it, for a simple turbo like that you might get away with 800-1k. YMMV on the rebuild tho, literally.

Take it to a non-affiliated mechanic shop. Should be much cheaper.

You sure you have the model name correct? There’s no such thing as a Hyundai Eco. Also if it’s 2020, if you’re in the US and Canada, shouldn’t it be under powertrain warranty? This is a clear powertrain defect if it just went bottoms up on you (assuming no modifications/doing anything stupid or accidents to the vehicle), so the dealer shouldn’t be asking you for jack. If it’s covered, also make sure to fight for warranty loaner/rental at their expense.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear. Yeah, unfortunately, the warranty doesn’t transfer to 2nd owners. Where are you looking to get it fixed? I would try to call into corporate and explain your situation and start from there.
