AC stopped blowing cold air… anyone else?

Just two months in with my Palisade and the AC is already acting up. One day it made a light hissing noise, and the next day it was just blowing warm air. It’s been scorching out, so this is not what I need right now. Anyone else deal with this?

Do you have an AC pressure gauge? You can grab one at places like AutoZone or Walmart. It’ll let you check if the AC is charged. I got one for about $12. If it’s still charged and you’re not getting cold air, it could be a leak or a problem with the compressor. Might be time to have someone take a look at it.

@Jane
I took it to the dealership, and they think it’s an issue with the evaporator coil. They mentioned it might have come from the factory like that. I have an appointment set up, but they said the part won’t be in for a few days.

@Lashun
That’s a bummer. I know the feeling—where I live, having no AC is not an option. Hopefully, it’s covered by the warranty and they give you a loaner. My Palisade is in for a recall, and they gave me a Santa Fe as a loaner. It’s fine, but I do miss my own car.

@Jane
Exactly, down here in the south it’s just too hot to be without AC. It’s 88 degrees today, and it feels way worse inside the car. I’m hoping it’s all covered… I don’t care what loaner they give me as long as it has cold air.

My 2021 had a bad compressor last year, and it was covered under warranty. Seems like this might be a common problem with these cars.

Honestly, I haven’t heard about this being a frequent issue, but I guess anything can happen.

Mine had a similar problem, but it turned out to be damage from a rock hitting the system. Insurance covered most of the cost to fix it.

I’ve got a 2020 Palisade, and mine just started blowing warm air recently. The dealership said I needed a new AC compressor, and it was a $1200 fix. Living in the desert, it was rough going without it for almost a week.

@Martinez
That’s crazy… sounds like they need to step up quality control.

I picked up my 2025 Calligraphy on September 26, and by the next day, I realized there was no cold air coming from the passenger and rear vents. It also made a whispering sound. Took it to the dealer, and they said the evaporator was leaking. They replaced it, but I’m pretty disappointed. This should have been caught at the factory.

@sawyermiller
I totally agree. Quality control really dropped the ball here.
