Got a new engine less than 500 miles ago. They said I needed a new catalytic converter, so I replaced it. Still runs badly, throwing a P0269 Cylinder 3 contribution balance code. Hyundai won’t help unless the check engine light is on. Car starts rough, smooths out a bit, then sputters on the highway. Ordered new injectors, FPR, fuel rail, etc. I’ll do the work myself or take it to another shop. How can they not figure this out?
Sorry you’re dealing with this. A lot of people have been burned by Hyundai, and they take no responsibility. They cut corners, and now customers are stuck with the problems. I’d tell anyone to spend their money elsewhere.

I don’t get how they can’t diagnose something so simple. Never buying another one.

They make everything as difficult as possible for customers. You’re not alone. I just hope more people see what this company is really like.

It’s not just Hyundai.
The dealership model itself is awful, and Hyundai just happens to have some of the worst ones.

Speaking from experience. I’ve got proof of how bad it is.
Edit: My dealership actually tried to help, but their hands were tied by Hyundai. The problem starts with the manufacturer.

My 2024 Santa Cruz has been at the dealer for 61 days straight. Took it in for a loose airbox, and now the dash is apart, airbags have issues, radio isn’t working… it’s a mess.

Dealerships are drowning because Hyundai keeps selling junk. A brand-new car shouldn’t have problems like this. This is on Hyundai.
@ElantraLOVEr3
I’m looking into legal options. No way I’m buying another Hyundai. I said the same thing about my wife’s Buick and my old Subaru Forester. Cars keep getting cheaper but more complicated.
@madisonwilson
They count on people giving up. Stay patient and good luck.
Same problem here. 2018 Tucson. I’ve given up. Trading it in and hoping to break even. Would be a decent car if it wasn’t such a headache.

Trying new injectors next. If that doesn’t work, I’m done too.

Could be the injectors or high-pressure fuel pump.

Ordered injectors. Going to get a new fuel pump too.
You changed the catalytic converter, but did you replace the rear one? If not, try disconnecting it and see if you can rev higher.

Only changed the one near the exhaust manifold.
@MaryJane
If the rear one is clogged, you won’t know until it’s too late.

I didn’t even think about that. Might be worth checking.
