I’ve got a 2024 Elantra SEL, and I’m trying to make it faster and maybe add an exhaust, but I can’t find much info on what works well without risking the warranty. Only advice I found so far was to save up for an Elantra N, but that wasn’t in the budget. Any suggestions that don’t void the warranty?
I drive the N-Line, and unfortunately, there’s barely any aftermarket support for our cars. Honestly, unless you can upgrade to an N or N-Line, you won’t find much to make your SEL faster.

Yep, I test drove all the standard Elantras, and honestly, the handling and acceleration only really impressed me on the N-Line.

Just curious, what were you driving before that made you feel like the SE/SEL trims were underwhelming in handling?

I had a 2017 Civic coupe with a 1.5T. After trying the Elantra Hybrid Blue, Limited, and SEL, the difference in acceleration and handling was pretty clear when I got in the N-Line. It’s a whole other level.
Your car’s engine just isn’t built for speed, my friend.
I’ve added an exhaust, cold air intake, and supercharger on mine with no issues on warranty. But yeah, no Lamborghini engine here!
I hate to say it, but you might have bought the wrong car if you’re looking for speed.
Hey, just a heads-up: putting an exhaust on an SEL probably won’t make it sound good. It’ll be loud but still slow.

Basically like those Jettas that rev loud but struggle to pick up speed at lights.
You didn’t have to go all out on the N model. The N-Line would’ve cost you only about 5-7k more, with better horsepower and torque. I had a Kona SEL before and traded it in for the Elantra N-Line, and the difference in acceleration is noticeable. I get it, wanting the 2.0 to feel faster, but it’s just not gonna happen with that engine. You could hold onto it and save for an upgrade in the future or consider a trade if possible.
@merrickzede
N-Line all the way .
Just saying, it might be better to save up for a faster car instead of spending on speed mods for an economy car.
Honestly, it’s not going to happen.
Making your SEL faster without voiding the warranty? Not likely. With 147 horsepower and a CVT, you might be better off looking for a used project car or trading up.
Wrong car, honestly. Any mods that’ll make it faster will also void the warranty.
Sounds like you’re looking for quicker, not necessarily faster.
That’s just not the purpose of a regular Elantra, sorry to say .
Might be best to accept it and save up for a different car down the line. I really enjoy my N-Line — it’s quick enough without being overkill, and the fuel efficiency is still pretty good.

How’s your gas mileage? I’ve got an SEL and like the 40-41 mpg I get. I wonder if the N-Line would bring that down to around 35-36 mpg.
