I came across some news yesterday on a website about a recall for the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Apparently, it could shift out of ‘park’ without you having to apply the brake. Not sure if others have seen this post. The NHTSA is suggesting owners use the parking brake when parking the vehicle.
I just bought this car and got it on Tuesday.

I’m sure they’ll have it fixed by the time you pick it up. Just sucks for me since I have to go back to the dealership for a fix. I’m hoping it’s just a software update.
@VIOLAHZ
It’s sitting in my driveway right now…

Oh… then we’re in the same boat. Sorry about that.

I pick mine up in 2 weeks.

It’s fine, they’ll probably sort it out before you get it.
Maybe it’s time we stop using electric buttons for everything. Still, I’m getting the Tucson because I like it.

I’m considering the 2024 hybrid. Hopefully, no issues with that.
@TaraSimmons
The recall doesn’t affect the hybrids. But honestly, every car has its flaws and recalls. The good thing is Hyundai tends to handle these quickly.
Just a heads up: always use your parking brake, even on flat surfaces.

When I worked in a service setting, parking brakes were mandatory. Failing to use them could get you into trouble. Same with the railroad. I had a mini panic attack when I couldn’t find the parking brake on the Tucson. Thought it might be integrated with the new shifter.
2025 Hyundai Tucson - Recall? I just happened to see some news yesterday about a recall on the 2025 Hyundai Tucson. Apparently, it can shift out of ‘park’ without the brake pedal being pressed. Not sure if anyone saw this. NHTSA recommends using the parking brake when parking the vehicle.
Congratulations! No need to worry. I haven’t heard any complaints yet. Just follow the advice for now until we get an official update.

My car automatically applies the parking brake when I park. Isn’t that the case for all 2025s?
@millicent
I don’t think it’s automatic. We still have to engage it manually. Haven’t tried it in this car yet, though.

It does sometimes automatically engage. If you stay in the car for a bit or turn off the engine, it applies the brake.
@AccentAdmirer4
It automatically applies for me. I hear the mechanism and the light shows up on the dashboard.
