Burnt Through Brake Light 2013 Sonata

So, I’d be having problems with my other brake light on and off for a year with bulbs burning in the socket. Why does Hyundai not have a recall for this and is there anyway I can fix this myself? Does anyone have any suggestions?

  1. Locate the Brake Light Assembly: Open the trunk of your Sonata and locate the backside of the tail light assembly where the burnt-out brake light is located.

My socket burnt last year as well.
I replaced them with a brand-new set of LED lights and plugs that I purchased on Amazon.
These are the ones I purchased:

AUTOGINE 2 Pack of 1400 Lumens Xenon White 6500K 144-SMD 1157 2057 2357 7528 1157A LED Bulbs 9-30V with Projector for Backup Reverse Lights, Parking Lights, and Tail Brake Lights

iJDMTOY (2) 1157 2057 2357 7528 Metal Socket/Base with Pigtail Wiring Harness Compatible for Retrofitting LED Bulbs, Turn Signal, Brake/Tail Lights, and More

NOTE: A small adjustment may be necessary for the sockets.

Hyundai hasn’t issued a recall for this specific problem and maybe they should.

There might be many issues that can cause this, so first try to Check the wiring to the brake light socket for any damage, corrosion, or loose connections. If you find any issues, repair or replace the wiring as needed.

A bad ground can cause electrical problems. Inspect the ground wire connected to the brake light assembly and ensure it’s clean and secure.

The brake light switch might be faulty, causing the lights to flicker or stay on. You can replace the switch yourself, but it’s a relatively easy DIY job.
