Engine finally arrived for recall! Super excited to get my 2024 Pali Cali fixed

Really glad to share that the engine for the recall came in yesterday for our ‘24 Pali Cali! They’re also going to handle the TSBs, including updating the AWD ECU and fixing the self-leveling shock assembly. In the meantime, they’ve given us a ‘24 Santa Fe to drive.

I was worried after reading some reviews that maybe I’d prefer the Santa Fe, but after driving it, I’m even more satisfied with the Palisade.

I do still wish the Calligraphy model had a bench middle row, but other than that, no complaints. Can’t wait to have it all set and back on the road.

Got my Pali back within a week!

:crossed_fingers:They said about a week for ours, too. Did you notice anything different once you got it back? Is there some kind of ‘break-in’ period, or special instructions on how to treat it after the fix? Treating it like it’s fresh out of surgery here.

Quick question—does the engine warranty reset to zero miles?

Nope, the mileage stays on the car, not the engine. And it’s not a full new engine, just the sub-assembly.

Haha, I keep joking about that too, but yeah, it sticks with the odometer :joy:

Can you share your thoughts on the Santa Fe? I’m trying to decide between that and the Palisade. I’m leaning towards the Santa Fe.

I’ve got the Santa Fe Limited AWD Hybrid, and so far, I’m pretty happy with it. Haven’t driven a Palisade, so I can’t compare, but I do like the Santa Fe’s look more.

I went for the Limited because it has a bench seat. You get used to the shifter, though I keep reaching for it like in my Subaru. It’s a great car overall!

@Faithjones
That shifter gives me anxiety. I always think, ‘One day this thing will fail, and I’ll be stuck!’ But it’s definitely got a cool look, almost like a baby Land Rover. I’ve heard about all the recalls, but it seems like Hyundai dealers are good about fixing them. So that’s a plus.

@CyberVoyager
I get it, but you get used to it. Plus, since it’s electronic, it shifts faster. The Limited has the same ‘walk’ feature as the Calligraphy, where you can move it forward or backward remotely. I’ve used it a few times, and it’s handy but limited.

The recalls seem mostly related to non-hybrid models, so I haven’t had any issues. If you want something spacious, the Palisade is bigger, but the Santa Fe feels roomy without being oversized.

It might not be a fair comparison since I have the Palisade Calligraphy and they gave us a Santa Fe XRT.

I like the Santa Fe, but it’s missing all the extras—like adaptive cruise, HUD, blind-spot monitoring, cooled seats, AWD, and a sunroof. The Palisade just feels more luxurious with features like Napa leather and auto rear windows.

I do like the new body style of the Santa Fe, though. It’s sporty, the seats are comfortable, and the new infotainment system is nice. The bench in the back makes it easy with my kids; no fighting over who gets to sit up front! The trunk space with the bench folded reminds me of a 4Runner.

But the gear selector… not a fan.

I’ve only had it for a day, but those are my initial thoughts.

@Molly12
Thank you! It sounds like the Calligraphy model fills in all the missing features.

Yeah, exactly. The Palisade is bigger and has a smoother ride, which I prefer. The Santa Fe feels sportier, almost like an old Xterra or Pathfinder, which I used to like, but it’s a different vibe.

I miss the comfy, luxurious feel of the Palisade.

Got my engine replaced 2 weeks ago, but it took the dealer 6 months! I have to take it back for a check after 3,000 miles. My advice? Keep an eye on the oil consumption.

Ugh, I’m dealing with the same oil consumption issue. Been waiting since June for a new engine with no ETA in sight. :woman_facepalming:t2:

@StephieStephie
Same here, it took them 6 months to get my engine in. Hopefully, yours won’t take that long, but they tend to have no ETA for a while. Are you just talking with the dealer, or have you been in touch with a Hyundai case manager?

@Nolan
Both… but the case manager from Hyundai doesn’t have any updates for us.

That sounds about right. Ask if they can expedite your case, even though it might be annoying. Hopefully, your engine arrives soon.

@Nolan
We’ve tried, but no luck so far. It’s beyond frustrating.

I know the feeling… I kept getting those weekly calls with ‘no new updates.’ I almost went for a buyback, I was so fed up, but I’m glad I didn’t. Just hang in there and keep pushing them.
