Engine Warning Light On from Day 1 - 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid

Hello…I just picked up my new 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid Preferred with the Trend package earlier today, and I’m already facing an issue. During the dealer’s demo, I noticed that the engine warning light was on. The dealer staff mentioned it was due to a factory demo setting and assured me it would be resolved after they made some adjustments while I was finalizing the paperwork.

However, once I got home, the warning light came back on. I’m really concerned because this is a brand-new vehicle, and I expected everything to be in perfect working order. Has anyone else experienced something similar with their new cars? What steps should I take next? Should I contact the dealer again, or is this something that might resolve itself?

My 2024, not the hybrid, is in the shop for a new transmission—only has 161 miles on it! I brought it in because the battery died after sitting for just 7 days twice. That shouldn’t happen. I’m worried about what else might go wrong. And the loaner car is a 2024 Hyundai Palisade with 1500 miles, but the AC doesn’t even work. What’s going on with Hyundai? I used to love my 2021 Palisade…

I should’ve just spent 5 grand on a 2007 Santa Fe :man_shrugging:

Never buy the first model year of a redesign—my number one rule. I always go for the second or third model year of a new generation.

So true, and I’m definitely seeing that firsthand now.

Good luck… My fiancé’s Calligraphy was at the dealer to get a module replaced for the TPMS light. They had to take the dash apart to replace it. Must’ve been an important one since they needed both keys to reprogram and we had to reset the fingerprints when we got it back today. It was at the dealer for 5 business days. We had a Calligraphy Palisade as a loaner, which wasn’t bad, but we think the Santa Fe is way better. Unfortunately, this is what you gotta expect with a 1st-year refresh model—there are gonna be issues, and you just gotta hope you didn’t end up with a lemon. :man_shrugging:t2:

Why do you think the Santa Fe is better than the Palisade?

Better, in our opinion. The full-screen display on the Santa Fe is way better than the split screen on the Palisade. Even though the Santa Fe is technically smaller, it feels way more comfortable and spacious. Plus, we think the Santa Fe just looks better than the Palisade. I’ve only driven her Santa Fe a couple hundred miles, so I can’t speak to all the differences, but my fiancé has put 2k miles on it and couldn’t wait to get it back after just a week in the Palisade Calligraphy. Honestly, the few hundred miles in her Santa Fe felt better than the drive to MD in the Palisade this weekend. We took the loaner instead of my Raptor to save miles on our other car :sunglasses:.

Hope it gets sorted out and it’s nothing serious. I’ve got the exact same car as you, same color and everything. It’s been perfect so far, and I’m at 2,500km.
