No, the cover does move, but I think it might be jammed if I try closing it all the way.
The cover gets stuck if I push it too much.

I had an older Accent, too… it was such a fun drive with the manual transmission.
My 2002 Accent made it to 212,000 miles and I delivered pizzas in it most of the time. Hope you enjoy yours as much!
At least you’ve got analog controls for everything. That’s pretty nice on these older models.
If you want to avoid breaking anything, the best bet is to take the radio out and carefully remove the cassette.
Have you tried an M80 yet?
Try using a wine bottle opener, the kind with the spiral. Push it into the cassette plastic a bit, then pull it out.
Alright, everyone, I ended up not using any of your tips because none worked out. Since this car’s been sitting in the Arizona sun for years, I managed to break the cassette into pieces and just shut the door. I’ll probably get a stereo with an AUX connection instead. Thanks for all the help though… turns out it was stuck in backwards and jammed for good.
Try a paper clip or pliers maybe?

Ended up cracking it to pieces and closing the door. Got myself an FM transmitter instead.
