Hey everyone, I’ve got an old Hyundai Accent, and there’s this cassette stuck in the player that I can’t get out. It’s been there forever, and I’m determined to remove it. I press eject, but nothing happens. Anyone got advice?
Try needle nose pliers maybe?

No luck, they’re too big to fit in there.

What about some smaller needle-nose pliers?

I’m cracking up at all the pliers suggestions here

Maybe try flipping the pliers around or using a slimmer pair?

You could try super gluing a stick or something thin to the cassette, let it dry, and then try pulling it out that way… but only if you don’t care about damaging the cassette.
Why not just swap it out for a new unit? A cheap one from Walmart with modern connections could do the trick.

The car was my grandpa’s, and he hasn’t been able to get the cassette out since he bought it. I just want to remove it to show him it’s possible. I don’t really have any other plans for it though.
@ElantraLOVEr3
Why not let grandpa enjoy the mystery of it being stuck? If he couldn’t get it out, maybe it’s best to leave it .
@ElantraLOVEr3
In that case, I’d still try those needle nose pliers and go all in. If you can’t pull it out without a bit of damage, then maybe you can take the radio out and pop it open to get at it.
Does the radio still work, though? Like, the cassette just won’t eject?
@Tylor
Yeah, the radio still plays, but I just see the wheels under the cassette moving without actually ejecting it.
@ElantraLOVEr3
You could try removing the radio, taking it apart, and pushing the cassette out from inside. Only if you’re comfortable with that, though.
I had a 2005 Accent too! Drove it for over ten years. Small but got great mileage.
Found a guide that might help: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-remove-a-stuck-cassette-from-a-car-cassette-deck

Maybe try a butter knife under it. Could help it pop out.

Tried it… wouldn’t move at all. My boyfriend thinks maybe it’s in backwards or something.

Does the cover seem stuck against the cassette itself? You might try to get that free first if it is.
@MysticMuse
No, the cover does move, but I think it might be jammed if I try closing it all the way.
