Alright, I went to the dealership yesterday to get an early oil change before the 1,000 miles, as advised. The dealership was talking about an additional $80 to switch to a 2025 Elantra SEL Convenience, which comes with more tech, or for another $130, I could get a 2025 N-Line.
After checking out the SEL Convenience, I loved the big screen clusters and the sunroof, but I noticed I’d lose the sportier aesthetic of my current model.
No black gloss interior
No black gloss spoiler
No leather-wrapped wheel or shift knob
Unavailable car color on this lot
No wireless Apple CarPlay and no wireless fast charging
Is that an additional $80 or $130 per month? That’s a significant increase, especially considering the hit you’ll take on trading it in. Why didn’t you opt for those higher trims initially?

I wasn’t aware of them at the time. My sales lady showed me the wrong car for my quote, and I didn’t know those trims existed.
@Dipna
Just keep in mind you’ll likely take a big financial hit if you go through with it. I’d personally keep the car you have now because it seems like money wasted otherwise, but if you’ve got the budget for it, do what you want.

Just get your oil change done and move on. Once you understand total pricing—not just monthly payments—come back to us with your question.
Let’s not talk about moving out . I probably pay double what you do for your tiny mortgage. Just focus on my question, please. I don’t care about total pricing; if I want something, I’m going to make it happen.
Just so you know, no current Elantra trim offers the larger center screen with wireless CarPlay or Android Auto. The wireless feature is only available on the smaller screen. I bought a small USB dongle that converts it to wireless functionality.
Also, remember to focus on total numbers rather than just the monthly payments. How much are they offering you for your trade-in? What’s the cost of the new car? Are both loans for the same term? You’ll likely notice a loss of several thousand dollars in the trade.
