How do I turn on this light over the trunk in my 2021 Santa Fe?

I thought it might be some kind of sensor, but it’s not mentioned in my manual. These lights are facing the back of the rear row.

It’s actually an occupancy alert sensor, not a light.

Those alerts remind you to check your back seat when you’re getting out of the car in case you forgot your child.

Ahhh, got it! That makes sense. Thank you!!

@Zack12
The trunk light is located further back, at the top of the window (visible in the photo).

I guess this system is more accurate than the door open/closed counter that Toyota uses.

It’s crazy that this even has to be a feature, smh.

They aren’t lights.

They don’t even look like lights, lol.

I thought… why would lights be angled forwards? That would be strange and dangerous.

Yeah, they do look like lights.

Show me a light that looks like these.

I’ll wait.

@VIOLAHZ
What I’m saying is if you look at that without knowing what it is, your first instinct would be to think it’s a set of lights, or you just wouldn’t know what it is.

I disagree, but whatever.

The first time I saw them in my 2023 Tucson, I thought they were LED lights.

I have them in my 23 Sorento and thought the same thing. Then I realized what they were, but I’m sure many people thought the same.

Yeah, they are sensors so people don’t forget their kids in the backseat!

It’s an ultrasonic sensor to remind you to check the backseat when you get out of the car.
