How much to fix this damage?

I was quoted $2500 for something much smaller. It was a shock to realize how much body shops charge unless insurance is involved.

That rear panel will need cutting, a new one welded, and painted. That won’t be cheap here.

You’re looking at easily over $4k.

To start, it could be anywhere from $2k to $5k.

It really depends. If you can find someone who does cash jobs, it might be a few hundred. Otherwise, you could go through insurance, but that will label the car as having been in an accident. Try to find a local shop that won’t report it on Carfax. Realistically, it probably won’t be cheap, but the good news is it doesn’t look like it’s down to the metal.

No way, the metal is folded, and the paint is definitely removed. Getting that panel back to its original shape will take a lot of work. With all the labor and materials for painting, I’d definitely charge more than a few hundred.

I had a similar issue, and even though it wasn’t as big, I managed to get it fully fixed for that kind of money. It’s not perfect, but if you’re not looking for perfection, you might consider going with a cash job.

Got it, that’s a good point I hadn’t considered. I appreciate the info.
