Hyundai Sonata battery

Hey guys, My car, a 2015 Sonata 2.4 GL, has trouble starting in cold weather unless I plug in the block heater cord. Currently, it has an AGM battery, but I’m considering replacing it with a lead acid battery since it’s cheaper. Has anyone else here tried switching to a lead acid battery instead of AGM?

I wouldn’t recommend switching to a lead-acid battery in your 2015 Sonata 2.4 GL for a couple of reasons:

  1. AGM batteries are better suited for modern cars
  2. Might cause electrical issues

Here are some alternative solutions for your cold weather starting problems:

While a failing AGM battery is a possibility, consider having your starter checked as well.

Cold weather can strain it, and synthetic oil can also improve winter starts by flowing better at lower temperatures.

Switching from AGM to lead acid in a 2015 Sonata 2.4 GL for cost savings is possible, but consider AGM’s superior cold weather performance and durability first.

A 12-volt lead-acid car battery is recommended for your HYUNDAI SONATA.
