I Bought My First Car in 2009. I Was 18. It Was a Hyundai Elantra

Google Maps still shows it in front of my old house. I haven’t lived there since 2012, and I haven’t had the car since about 2014.

Ok. It’s an old street view photo then?

I just typed in my old address, and this is the first photo that comes up.

The street view has a date when it was captured.

@MichaelBrown
The watermark says 2020.

The car came back looking for you…

My house still shows my VW.

Google Maps still shows our only house in the neighborhood in street view. They haven’t updated it since 2008. Imagine that.

My old house had the picture right outside from 2008. Three houses in either direction were updated to 2022, but right in front? Nope, it’s the past. It’s so bizarre.

Google never lies. Google has always shown my address as the house next door. It has never corrected, even though the pic has been updated a couple of times.

I miss my 2010 Elantra. It was a great car, but it was written off in an accident a year ago.

Must be a less traveled street since they haven’t updated it lol.

Why is this a topic? Street views are not real live feeds.

My grandma, who passed away in 2016, used to always sit on her front porch. She was on Google Maps sitting on the porch for years. They finally updated it, I think, last year. Google Maps is a good way to go down memory lane and remember what things used to look like in years past.

In the upper left of Street View, the date of the photo appears. If there are older photos, you can view them by clicking ‘see more dates.’

Yeah, I do that frequently!

Got my car a couple of months after moving into my new place, and it’s already reflected on Google Maps.

What happened? Did you lose your house? Can’t afford it?

Nope. I moved out in my early twenties. My dad sold the house around 2016-2017.
