I Think the Universe is Telling Me to Trade in My 2016 Hyundai Sonata

Recently got the car back after being at the dealership for 4 months for…shocker…blown engine. I was graciously covered by the extended powertrain warranty, so I do thank Hyundai corporate for honoring that. Haven’t even had it back a month and someone attempted to steal it. I’ve had so many other minor issues with the car (faulty electrics mostly), blown engine, now this. Hyundais are targeted because they are easy to steal, save yourself the grief and just buy the Toyota instead.

The fact that it’s literally got a proximity button on the door handle to show it is a push-to-start car yet someone tried to steal it really goes to show you how absolutely stupid these Kia Boys are. Their crimes literally have no purpose or reasoning; they just joyride and then ditch them. According to reports, barely any have been used to sell parts, etc.

Yup! So stupid :joy:. When I took it to the dealership to have the motor replaced, they had about… 20… maybe close to 30?! Sonatas that had been stolen and ditched, just sitting at the dealership!!

What’s “the Toyota”?

Honda and Toyota are targeted more than Hyundai and Kia. You’re likely to wake up one day with your wheels missing.

Someone tried messing up my lock like that too, thankfully not as bad. And I have a push-to-start . I want to debadge mine and maybe put a Honda emblem or something just to deter these idiots lol.

I have the push button as well; the irony is my husband’s 2015 Sonata is right next to my car, and he does not have the push button. :joy: His car could have easily been stolen if they just looked! I like your idea of switching out the car emblems. Creative! Haha.

How about having something like those bike seats where when someone tries to steal it they get that shaft up their butt? Enable it after you get out but please disable it before you get in…:rofl::rofl:

And get a Toyota.

While that does suck, you can replace that handle for ~$25 on eBay. It’s pretty simple with the right tools.

Yeah, it shouldn’t be too bad. Unfortunately, they did dent my door a significant amount with whatever they used to wedge the handle.

I’m so glad we don’t have Kia boys in Canada.

Get you that new 2025.
