@Timber
Re-read the question I was answering. He wondered if they could start the car because the key was close by. He thinks the key might not have been cloned, like the thief just sat inside and the car started because the key was 20 feet away. That’s not possible. The thief either had a copy of the key or cloned the signal.
I’m really sorry this happened to you. I now use a Faraday box for my keys after a friend lost their RAV4. They caught someone on camera using a device near their front door. They walked back to the car, opened it, and drove off.
The bags block the 2024 from unlocking, but it could still start if the bag is inside. However, a Faraday box works better.
@solesfin
I use a Faraday pouch from GoDark, and as long as my keyfob is in the pouch, my Tucson doesn’t detect it and won’t start.

How much was the one that works properly? A bag is easier for travel.
@solesfin
I think it’s around $50: Faraday Bag for Phone | Stop Phone Tracking | GoDark® Bags
I bought it in a 2-pack for $90, so $45 each: GoDark® Faraday Bags - Phone - Small Bundle 2pc
@Molly12
I’ll have to get one of those for my trips. Thanks for the link and for confirming the vehicle can’t see the key when it’s in that bag.
They probably copied your FOB. Were the FOBs close to the car when you were home? If so, you should store them in a Faraday box.

Yeah, the keys were inside, right by the front door. Probably about 10 feet from the car. I didn’t know about Faraday boxes… just bought one, lol. I feel so foolish.
@JakeHyundaiJourney
A lot of people don’t know that can happen if you’re close to the car. Didn’t you check the car location on the BlueLink app?

I hadn’t thought of that! It’s showing an hour away in a waterway. I called the police in that area, but they won’t do anything because they can’t give me a street or coordinates. I’m going to check it out.
@JakeHyundaiJourney
Did you manage to find it?

Dude, keep us in the loop!

I went to look around the area where it shows on the map but I didn’t see anything. Hyundai Blue Link is working with the police, so fingers crossed!
@JakeHyundaiJourney
Did you wear a wetsuit and mask while searching?

I walked along the coast trying to blast the horn and lights, lol.
@JakeHyundaiJourney
What state are you in? Is it literally in the river? Like, submerged?

Keep in mind that GPS location isn’t always accurate. It can drift 15 to 30 feet for no clear reason.
@SantaFeSage

Especially if it’s in a river!
