You might want to swap the Hyundai logos for South Korean Kia logos and invest in a Jordan Distrbutors ghost key, plus a club to deter the ‘Kia boys’.
Run far away from this model. Just Google ‘Hyundai GDI engine issues’ and you will understand why. When my daughter’s engine was replaced, the service writer mentioned an oil change and that it failed within 10 miles after leaving the dealership. You never know when the engine will fail, but it is a high-risk.
@Dylan
But there is a lifetime warranty on the engine, so if it fails, at least you’re covered. If it does not fail, you have a good car.

The warranty was 10 years or 100k for the first buyer, or 5 years or 60k for 2nd owners. The engine might be a ticking time bomb.
@Dylan
In Canada, it’s covered for 200k km regardless. As long as it’s a Hyundai with a Theta II, it should be covered.
@Dylan
There are lifetime warranties on these engines from the class action lawsuit!

That was my thought process when I chose this car.

Yes, there are written documents stating that, but Hyundai corporate is very hard to deal with. They sometimes refuse to honor their warranty.
I will not buy a Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis again. If you don’t believe me, just look it up online.
@HyundaiFanaticX
Those are rare occurrences, not the norm. I know several people who got new engines without any hassle.

I agree! I haven’t faced engine issues, but I took mine in for some recall work, and the Hyundai service manager assured me, ‘If you have any engine problems, bring it back. These cars have a lifetime warranty.’ A couple of weeks later, I received the warranty info from Hyundai. You usually hear only the negative experiences, which is common in any industry.
Also, there’s an extended warranty on the rear combination lamp (tail light assembly) for 15 years/200k miles. These lights can get hot and melt the assembly (and mine has). That covers models made from 2011-2014.
@Cynthia
I doubt mine qualifies for any type of lifetime warranty; it’s a 2024 Elantra N.
