Opinions on Buying a 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 CRDi Premium SE Auto 4WD?

I’m seriously considering buying a 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 CRDi Premium SE Auto 4WD (Euro 6) with 95,000 miles on it. The engine seems to be running well, and it’s had regular services every 20,000 miles. I’m close to finalizing the deal at £11,000.

For those who own or have experience with this model, what can I expect? Are there any issues to watch out for at this mileage or general pros and cons of this edition?

Services every 20K miles??? That’s way too much mileage between oil changes.

I wouldn’t touch that.

At least in the UK where this appears to be, 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first, is the recommended interval for services. Unless the diesel had an extended service period I didn’t know about.

Not sure why it appears the previous owners skipped every other milestone if that is the case.

Also OP, the facelifted model for that era came out in 2018. You might get something a little newer for not much more.

10k Miles or 12 months would be the standard. But 96K miles and 6 years of ownership and only 4 oil changes? That engine is about to die.

Also in Europe, you don’t typically do long distance drives as we do in North America, so it’s even worse!

That car should have had 9 oil changes, or 6 (annually) at the minimum.

@MonicaChesterfield
Oh I know, I was agreeing but badly I guess.

OP steer clear.

I was agreeing with you, just expanding my explanation.

Appears we were agreeing all along.

Apologies, long day.

@klausmark1
LOL! It’s just the start of mine.

My VW is supposed to be every 16K KM, I changed at 12K.

Check the service manual. If it was serviced on time (I had a Vauxhall in the UK with 20k mile service points), then you’re good. If the owner had been missing services, run away. If anything goes wrong in the future, Hyundai aren’t going to be helping you.

At 95,000 miles, the owner is dumping this before their original 100,000 miles warranty is up; what do they know that you haven’t spotted yet?

Don’t. It probably burns oil.

Yup. Even if they had changed the oil religiously every 3K miles, no difference. They burn oil, and fail.

These engines burn oil. I would avoid this like the plague.

Decent car. Lacks a lot of power. Good otherwise.

Some have the CVT issue. Research before you buy.

Looks like they put the steering on the wrong side.

Not a chance; 20,000km is 12,500 miles. Did they even care enough to check and top off the oil in between?

That said, I would love to have a diesel car. I like the sound of them. Lol

It’s 20K miles, so 32k KMs?

@MonicaChesterfield
It’s a right side drive car, so most likely km not imperial miles they posted. Either way, it certainly doesn’t get better lol.

I have no idea which country that car is in, was going off of what OP posted.

@MonicaChesterfield
OK then the OP said euro… that should have been enough of a clue right there. Lol.
