Palisade Oil Burn—Has Anyone Successfully Replaced the Engine Under Warranty?

Hey everyone,

We have a 2020 Palisade with 88k miles, and it’s been a great car until about a week ago. Like others, we noticed it started acting up, only to find out it was nearly out of oil. We changed the oil at 83k miles, so we’ve lost all or most of the oil in just 5k miles—more than 1 quart per 1,000 miles.

The service manager at our dealership has been very helpful and sympathetic. He instructed us to monitor the oil consumption and bring the car back if it continues to burn oil.

I’ve seen a lot of discussions online about this issue, with many people reporting that Hyundai considers 1 quart per 1,000 miles to be within specs, meaning their engines weren’t replaced.

To manage my expectations, has anyone had success getting their engine replaced under warranty for this issue?

Thanks!

Have you checked for leaks by bringing it inside? It sounds like spit on a campfire, but have you also changed the PCV valve? It’s just strange that I haven’t seen a single 3.8 with an oil usage issue. Even more so at that range.

You’re not alone in experiencing excessive oil consumption with your 2020 Palisade. It’s a common problem reported by many owners.

While Hyundai considers a certain level of oil consumption as normal, your vehicle’s rate seems significantly higher than acceptable.
