He didn’t mention a delivery date when he called. He made it pretty clear that I missed the chance.

That’s a shame. I was at a Hyundai dealership yesterday, and now they are quoting without the rebates. Maybe try keeping the deposit until the car arrives and if you miss out on the rebate, you can get your money back.

He kind of hinted he might help me out, but maybe he was just trying to soften the blow. I wonder if they could meet me halfway and I’ll add 2.5k, and they add the same. I’d still buy the car if they did.

The deal was for $54k Canadian, including $8k in rebates. Now the $5k federal rebate is gone, so it’s $59k unless they offer a slightly better deal. The $3k provincial rebate is still there, but that could end any time.

Hyundai Canada has already issued a statement to dealers saying that the rebate funds have run out and no more rebates should be offered on any deals moving forward. If the rebate wasn’t approved yet, the buyer missed out.

The funds are gone. A couple of friends were about to sign a deal for a different brand today, and they had to pull the deal because the government shut it down.
