Fix it and trade it in

That’s exactly what I’m doing. Not dealing with this again…

Watch, in a month the dealership will be advertising it as a ‘2024 Elantra, Test Vehicle, like new, low miles!’

Where do you live? Asking because I’m getting a 2025 soon and worried about this happening to me.

I’m in Atlanta.

Another day in the ATL…

You bought a Hyundai in ATL? The place with the most Hyundai thefts? :sob:

@oliviamartin
Might as well grab a Charger too!

Dang. I’m in Marietta. When you say Atlanta, do you mean OTP?

Yeah, we could’ve guessed that lol.

Honestly, if you live anywhere in the U.S. and have a Kia or Hyundai, you’re at risk. Sad reality.

My Sonata was stolen, and I’ll never buy a Hyundai again.

@Joy
The risk drops outside of crime-heavy cities, though.

True, but it’s never zero. The fact that someone can steal a car in 3 minutes with basic tools is enough for me to be cautious.

@Joy
Apparently not everyone since they couldn’t steal this one.

It’s wild that a teenager can start your $30k car with barely any tools, but hackers can’t break into a $500 phone :exploding_head:

They tried but didn’t succeed. But the damage to Hyundai/Kia’s rep is already done. Even if thieves can’t actually take the car after the software update, insurance rates rise, and our cars keep getting broken into.

@jazirah
Exactly, the whole Kia Boyz thing is about amateur thieves who cause damage just for fun. Hyundai/Kia messed up by making their cars a target for these teenagers. Even if I know my push-start Hyundai can’t be stolen, I wouldn’t buy another one now.
