SOS symbol on dash

Hey everyone …

I have a 2023 Hyundai Kona N-Line hybrid, and I’m supposed to sell it today. Last night, a red SOS symbol popped up on the dashboard.

I’ve attached a photo of it. The symbol is still there today, and now I’m in full panic mode since I’m meant to be selling the car!

Has anyone seen this before or experienced this issue? Not sure if it helps, but I’m in the UK.

It could be a loose connection, a software glitch, or the embedded SIM card might have become unprovisioned.

The best solution is to have a dealership check it under warranty.

Depending on your car sale circumstances, you might need to put that on hold for now.

@Jason
They’re coming to look at it today/take it away. It’s a Hyundai dealership that’s buying it, so hopefully, they can sort it out since they probably know the issue.

It’s scared and doesn’t want to leave you.

We have a lot of good memories together.

Most likely, it’s a CAN communication glitch with the SOS module. Nothing serious; it may just need a sensor replacement.

Eject!! It’s about to BLOOOOOOWWW!!!

DCU (E-Call) modules produced in SX2 might have issues. The service team will take care of it. You can’t call anyone when you have an accident or something.

It seems like collusion was detected, and SOS mode turned on.

Check around the car for any damages.

Also, check your SOS button. Since you’re due to sell, is it possible someone who checked your car accidentally pressed the SOS button?

@MaryJane
I sold it on Carwow, and they’re coming to collect today. It’s going to a Hyundai dealership. There are no damages on the car. It weirdly came on after I drove for about 3 minutes last night, parked, picked up my curry, then got back in the car after a few minutes, started it up again, and it showed SOS. So it’s very odd.

@Yvette
You could try disconnecting the battery to reset the car, if you are comfortable doing that.
