Trunk Not Unlocking

I have a 2016 Elantra and recently had the trunk mechanism recall work done. Now, I’m experiencing an intermittent issue where none of the three methods to open the trunk work. Oddly, after a few hours or the next morning, the button and remote might work again, but the lever inside the car doesn’t. I took it back to the dealer, but everything worked fine while I was there, so they probably thought I was imagining things. I even replaced the key fob battery just in case. It seems more likely to open in the early morning but stops working later in the day. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks in advance!

The cable is not attached at the release end. The cable is rusty inside the casing. A retaining clip holding the cable in place is slack or missing, allowing for excessive cable play.

It sounds like there might be an intermittent electrical or connection issue. The problem could be temperature-related or linked to a loose connection or faulty component in the trunk release system. Since the issue persists despite a recent recall repair, further diagnostics at the dealer might be needed.
