Urgent Advice Needed: Transmission Flush Recommendation During Engine Replacement

I have a 2018 Elantra GT GLS currently in the shop for an engine replacement (new short block) at 43k kilometers under my extended Superior Plus warranty. The dealership just called and said I need to do a $400 transmission flush. I don’t have the money for this right now, and the service manual says it’s not required until closer to 90k kilometers.

Is this really necessary, or does it sound like a cash grab? I need advice urgently—thanks!

A $400 transmission flush right after an engine replacement seems suspicious.

The service manual usually knows best, and 90k kilometers for a transmission flush seems more reasonable.

While it’s true that fresh fluids can be beneficial, it’s unlikely to be critical at this mileage.

If you’re short on cash, politely decline the transmission flush and focus on getting your car back on the road with the new engine.

You can always consider the flush later when your finances improve.
