Does anyone know what this square piece of felt is? It has a hole in the middle, and I see it every time I get in my new 24 Sonata Limited Hybrid. Had the car for about a month and I love it, but the dealership didn’t do a great job detailing it. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s just some leftover shipping material. Can I toss it? Thanks
Yep, that’s just shipping material. Feel free to trash it. Hyundai gets pretty crazy with the amount of plastic and stuff they put on cars during shipping from Korea. I work at a dealership and I’ve seen way too much of this stuff.
@millicent
No joke, why is there so much plastic to remove? And why do I have to take off actual car parts to get rid of it all without leaving tiny pieces behind? Sonatas and Elantras, especially around the rear seats, are the worst for this.
@Mia
And they still only pay us .8 for a full PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection)…

Our shop gives us 1.9 hours for AWD and 1.4 for FWD. Better than nothing, I guess.
@Mia
It’s not just Hyundai. Every new car comes wrapped like that, even the fancy ones.
@Mia
Ugh, I hate those little bits you can’t get out of the nooks. The '25 Tucson’s body wrap is going to be a nightmare.
@millicent
They say all the plastic helps keep trim pieces from getting stressed during shipping.
@millicent
I work at a Hyundai dealership too, and yeah, that’s exactly why they do it.
@millicent
I took all the plastic and stickers off a '24 Kona N-Line and rolled it into a ball. It’s the size of an American football now.
