Why does my backup camera look so washed out?

The backup camera is so washed out it’s hard to use at night because I can’t tell the difference between the road and driveway. I’ve cleaned it many times, and the lens is very clear.

Maybe it’s something in the settings. While you’re in camera mode, check the settings. Mine works fine and is really clear.

It sounds like the contrast settings are too high. You can adjust this in the settings somewhere.

I just checked. The settings are set to 0/0.

Try changing the settings around to see if that fixes the washed-out look.

@MaryJane
I adjusted it all the way up and down. I think I’ll call a nearby dealership and bring it in. Still have some warranty left.

Mine is really clear, and the colors are vibrant.

It sounds like your camera might be defective. I would get that checked under warranty.

That’s what I was thinking. Also, I just found out that only one USB port in the car is for data. The rest are just for charging. Bought a wireless adapter, but I can only plug it into the center console.

@Ronald
I bought one too. I’m planning to run it through the back and use Velcro to keep it in place.

What do you mean by ‘back’? I tried all the USB ports in the front and the chairs, but only the one in the console reads. No luck with the others.

@Ronald
The USB port near the cup holders, right? I use that one. There’s a small hole behind the wireless charging pad. You can run the cable through that and out to the bottom compartment.

My wireless adapter is just a small USB stick. I wanted to plug it under the console, where there’s a heat plug and another USB. I was thinking about buying a bigger cup insert on Etsy to cover it, but now I’m stuck.

@Ronald
I suggest you check out this adapter [link]. It gives you wireless CarPlay and an HDMI port so you can plug in anything, including a Roku stick or Fire Stick. The cable is long enough to run through the hole behind the wireless charging pad, and it will look almost invisible.

@BobReuben
I’ll check it out .

Did you make sure it’s clean?

Yes, I cleaned it multiple times. I don’t see anything inside the lens like humidity or dust.

No, never had that problem.

I have the same issue. My car is brand new, I just got it yesterday.

I called the dealership service, and they said it might be a faulty camera. They told me to bring it in.
