Why is my hyundai insurance going up so much, anyone else seeing this

I have a 2018 Elantra SEL and used to pay $670 every 6 months since 2019. Now it’s jumped to $870 every 6 months, all in just this year. I checked other insurance companies, and they’re charging me $1,000 or more. I don’t understand why it’s increasing this much. I already have the anti-theft system, and my only ticket was for turning on red. I’m 24 and feeling stuck because I can’t switch right now, especially with a baby on the way.

Insurance is going up for everyone, not just certain cars.

Yeah, it’s up about 20% for all vehicles on average.

I have a 2011 Ford Edge. Used to pay $77 a month for full coverage. It shot up to $870, so I switched to liability only, now paying $145.

Same here. My liability on my old Honda was $108 in November. Now it’s $130.

What’s the model of your Honda?

@evanderjay
03 Element. My Sonata insurance jumped almost $100, so I just let them repo it. Done dealing with constant engine issues and high insurance costs.

I have an 04 Civic with full coverage for $50 a month.

It’s hitting Hyundai owners worse because of theft issues. Some insurance companies won’t even cover them anymore. Even if you have an anti-theft device, thieves don’t check before breaking in. Insurance companies are stuck covering the damage either way.

@Umbrielle
That’s not the only reason. According to multiple insurance providers, rates are up 20% overall due to the rising cost of parts and repairs.

Yeah, plus all the storm damage, fires, and floods wrecking cars. And let’s be real, insurance companies aren’t missing a chance to make more money.

I just don’t get how this is happening so fast. Feels impossible to keep up with.

You’re still paying less than me, and I have a 2023 Elantra.

@Sadie
That’s wild, I thought mine was bad.

I pay $355 a month for my 2019 Forte. I’d love to have $870 for six months instead.

That’s crazy.

Try $422 a month for a 2019 Elantra.

That makes me feel a little better about my $417 a month for a 2023 Kona.

Insurance is going up everywhere. An insurance agent told me rates will keep rising, and soon, the lowest deductible you can get will be $1,000. Homeowners insurance is going up too, and it’s getting ridiculous.

@Puck
That’s bad news. If this keeps up, owning a car is going to be out of reach for a lot of people.
